Foundation

The Bethel Home and Services Foundation was established in 1987 as a 501(c)3 not-for-profit public charity and serves as the official fundraising and gift receiving organization.  The Foundation is dedicated to have established funds to meet its mission of service.

The Foundation Story

With your help, Bethel Home and Services can focus on those we serve and those who provide service. Your gifts benefit Bethel Home and Services residents, enriching their lives in ways that would not have otherwise been possible through Bethel’s operating budget. This opportunity presented to you gives us the ability to provide compassionate care to those in need, innovative programming to transform the way we age, and financial support for those in our community who need it most. We invite you to identify an aspect of Bethel Home and Services you are passionate about supporting, and make a gift toward an area of focus.

Annual Fund:

Be A Bethel Builder

The annual fund is used to receive gifts each year to operate the Foundation and support Bethel Home and Services.  Gifts may be restricted for specific purposes but are generally unrestricted to allow the board to use the funds as needed.

Major support for the annual funds comes through the giver’s club known as Bethel Builders.  Builders give a minimum of $100 and are recognized in publications and offered a plaque that is updated each year.

Gifts include:

  • Diamond - $1,000

  • Gold - $750

  • Silver - $500

  • Bronze - $250

  • Member & Memorial - $100

Service awards are presented to charter members of the Bethel Builders for their faithful support of the Foundation over the past 20 years.

Endowment Fund

The Foundation has established an endowment fund to provide stable, long term support for its ministry.  The principal of the endowment funds is invested at the direction of the Foundation's Investment Committee appointed by the board.  The board has adopted an investment policy.

Endowment funds are generated from “planned gifts” including bequests, gift annuities, life insurance benefits, charitable remainder trusts, pooled income funds, and donor designated gifts.  At the present time, the Foundation is holding three gift annuities and three known bequests.

The Bethel Home and Services Foundation is a partner with other Wisconsin ELCA ministries including, Lutheran Planned Giving who provides a regional gift planner, Cindy Halverson.  Cindy is available for personal consultation on behalf of the Bethel Foundation.

Give Support To

Capital Funds

The capital fund is set up to accomplish projects outlined in a capital campaign or the Bethel strategic plan.  Funds have been set aside at the direction of donors and Bethel Home and Services. The Foundation Board needs to approve and direct monies utilized from the capital fund.

The Foundation staff works to coordinate programs with the Bethel Home Auxiliary, the Nursing Home and Community Services teams, staff committee and the Birchwood, Cashton, LaFarge and Coon Valley Corporations as well as the community advisory board in Westby to review the programming at Bethel Butikk Thrift Shop and Food Pantry.  We are also working to strengthen Bethel’s relationship with the business community through community organizations, businesses and churches with programs, staff participation and cooperative ventures.

Why Your Gift Matters

As a faith-based, not-for-profit elderly care community, Bethel Home and Services current budget goes specifically towards covering the cost of ongoing operations.  Gifts to the Bethel Home and Services Foundation allows our organization to provide a margin of excellence we would not otherwise be able to fund.

Whether it’s providing additional staff training to enhance the skills and knowledge base of our workforce, pursuing compelling new technology or programs in order to improve the delivery of care and services to our residents, or making facility enhancements, your gifts make a difference each and every day.
