Foundation
The Bethel Home & Services Foundation was established in 1987 as a 501(c)3 not-for-profit public charity. The Foundation serves as the official fundraising and gift receiving organization of Bethel Home & Services. The Foundation is dedicated to establishing funds to meet its mission of service.
The Foundation Story
With your help, Bethel Home & Services can focus on the people we serve and the staff and volunteers who provide service. Your gifts benefit residents and tenants of Bethel Home & Services, enriching their lives in ways that may not otherwise be possible if left solely to Bethel’s operating budget.
Your support and donations:
-
amplify our ability to provide compassionate care to those in need
-
encourage us to offer innovative programming to transform the way our residents and tenants age
-
extend financial support to people in our community who are of greatest need

We invite you to identify an aspect of Bethel Home & Services you are most passionate about supporting and to make a gift in care of that focus.

The Foundation hosts several annual fundraising events & activities throughout the year. We welcome you to attend!
Be a Bethel Builder
The yearly "Bethel Builder" fund is used to receive annual gifts to operate the Foundation and support Bethel Home & Services. Gifts may be given for specific purposes but are generally unrestricted to allow the Board to use the funds as deemed most necessary.
Major support for the yearly fund comes through the giver’s club known as "Bethel Builders". Builders give a minimum of $100 and are recognized in publications and offered a plaque that is updated each year.
Gift tiers include:
Diamond: $1,000+
Gold: $750+
Silver: $500+
Bronze: $250+
Member & Memorial: $100+
Service awards are presented to charter members of Bethel Builders for their faithful support of the Foundation throughout the past 20 years.
Contribute To Our Endowment Fund
The Foundation has established an Endowment Fund to provide stable, long-term support for its ministry. The principal of the Endowment Fund is invested at the direction of the Foundation's Investment Committee appointed by the Board. The Board has adopted an investment policy.
Endowment funds are generated from “planned gifts” including bequests, gift annuities, life insurance benefits, charitable remainder trusts, pooled income funds and donor designated gifts. The Foundation is currently holding three gift annuities and three known bequests.
The Bethel Home and Services Foundation is a partner with other Wisconsin ELCA ministries including, Lutheran Planned Giving who provides a regional gift planner, Cindy Halverson. Cindy is available for personal consultation on behalf of the Bethel Foundation.
Share Support with Capital Funds
The capital fund is set up to accomplish projects outlined in a capital campaign or the Bethel strategic plan. Funds have been set aside at the direction of donors and Bethel Home and Services. The Foundation Board needs to approve and direct monies utilized from the capital fund.
The Foundation staff works to coordinate programs with the Bethel Home Auxiliary, the Nursing Home and Community Services teams, staff committee and the Birchwood, Cashton, LaFarge and Coon Valley Corporations as well as the community advisory board in Westby to review the programming at Bethel Butikk Thrift Shop and Food Pantry. We are also working to strengthen Bethel’s relationship with the business community through community organizations, businesses and churches with programs, staff participation and cooperative ventures.
Your Gifts Matter
As a faith-based, not-for-profit elderly care community, Bethel Home & Services' current budget goes specifically toward covering the cost of ongoing operations. Gifts to the Bethel Home & Services Foundation allow our organization to provide a margin of excellence we would not otherwise be able to fund.

Whether it’s providing additional staff training to enhance the skills and knowledge base of our workforce, pursuing compelling new technology or programs in order to improve the delivery of care and services to our residents, or making facility enhancements, your gifts make a meaningful difference each and every day for the lives of many people.
