Bethel Education Endowment Fund

Bethel Education
Endowment
Bethel employs over 200 people, making
it one of the largest employers in Vernon County. Bethel is continually
challenged with attracting and retaining trained and skilled healthcare
workers in the rural setting. The local technical college, Western
Wisconsin Technical College - Viroqua Campus, has set up training programs
for Certified Nursing Assistants, Licensed Practical Nursing, Registered
Nursing degrees and other direct care training programs.
Recognizing the need to start an education fund to assist students preparing
for a career in health care, the Bethel Home and Services board of directors
has designated $10,000 for the purpose of educational loans which are paid
back with years of service to Bethel. Six Certified Nursing Assistants have
been trained to become medication administration assistants; a registered
nurse became certified as a wound care specialist; and a nurse assistant has
begun classes to become a registered nurse.
The
Bethel Home and Services Board and Staff Directors are committed to offering
educational opportunities to staff members wishing to further their
education. Establishing the Education Endowment Fund through planned gifts,
we would be able to offer scholarships, loans that could be forgiven after a
required period of employment, staff workshops, individual leadership
training, and community service presentations to senior citizens including
but not limited to Bethel's residents and clients.
Bethel Home and
Services provides quality care in our communities for people who benefit
from health and residential services for the aging guided by the gospel of
Jesus Christ. Bethel offers a full contiuum of care including home care,
assisted living, adult day services, independent senior housing and skilled
nursing care.
Bethel is an affiliated social ministry of the ELCA and is owned and
operated by 31 congregations in our service area including Vernon County and
parts of Crawford and Monroe County, all rural communities in southwest
Wisconsin. Bethel has an excellent reputation as the premier supplier of
senior services in the communities we serve.
Grace of Giving
But just as you excel in everything—in faith, in speech, in
knowledge, in complete earnestness and in your love for us —see that you
also excel in this grace of giving.
2 Corinthians 8:7
Our
goal is to present planned giving
opportunities to fund the Bethel Education Endowment. By giving donors
information they can apply to their own gift, and offer stewardship and
financial planning suggestions.
A
charitable gift planner is available to meet with you at no charge and no
obligation to consider any of the following gifting opportunities:
Charitable Gift
Annuities - donor receives a fixed
income for life and the charity receives the remainder.
Deferred
Charitable Gift Annuities – a
donor begins receiving income
at a later date for
the remainder of life and the charity receives the remainder.
Charitable
Remainder Trusts – donor receives
an income for the remainder of his/her or their life based on a percent of
the market value of the trust’s assets with the charity receiving the
remainder.
Life Insurance
Policies – donor may purchase or
transfer the proceeds of an existing life insurance policy to the charity.
U.S. Savings Bonds
– donor making a specific bequest of U.S. Savings Bonds to a charity through
a will saves all the ordinary income tax that would otherwise be due from
the donor’s heirs.
Retirement Plans
and Tax Deferred Commercial Annuities
– donor may find that a portion of their qualified retirement funds are
excellent choices for planned gifts with possible significant tax savings.
Will Bequests or
Living Trusts – donor gives a gift
to charity through his or her will or living trust.
Payable on Death
(POD) Bank or Brokerage Accounts –
donor changes the title on a bank or brokerage account to “Payable on Death”
or “Transfer on Death” to a charity, the donor keeps control of the asset
during life and makes a probate-free gift at death.
